Course Objectives

This course is aimed at bolstering the technical level of Engineers through the understanding of current networking trends, and provide the training to design, install and configure D-Link networking products for projects, bids and tenders. A hands-on practical is used to familiarize the participant with the products. The course helps the participants to be up-to-date with the latest developments in the D-Link products and be prepared for the same.

Prerequisites

  • The participant should have a minimum of 2 years experience in networking field.
  • During the time of training, each participant is advised to have one’s own Laptop Personal Computer with Windows 98 or higher OS, Ethernet Network port, DB9 Serial COM port, USB 1.1 or higher port, CDROM drive in order to perform the practical lab exercises on the various D-Link products.
  • To fully benefit from this course participant should have a working knowledge of the OSI reference model before attendance.

Course Content

The course covers networking technologies and the entire range of D-Link products such as L2/L3 switches, routers, modems, wlan, broadband, VoIP; etc. Hands on practical exercises accompany most of the theory sessions to reinforce the participants learning the products. Case study designs and written test would be conducted after the training sessions.

 Course Outline

Day One LAN Technologies and Design

Registration, Introduction to Networking, Ethernet /Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet,

Switching Technology, VLANs, Media Converters, Print Servers, D-Link products.

 

Hands-on practical: Managed L2 switches configuration, VLAN, Print servers.

Case study: LAN design using D-Link products.

Day Two – WAN Technologies

IP addressing, L3 Switching, Routing, D-Link products and applications.

 

Hands-on practical: L3 Switches, Routers configuration.

 

Day Three - Wireless, Broadband and Firewalls

WLAN, Broadband, Brief overview of Firewalls, NMS, D-Link products.

 

Hands-on practical: Indoor WLAN applications, Broadband, Firewalls, Leased Line modem configurations.

 Case study: WAN design using D-Link products.

Day Four –VoIP, Digital Home & Multimedia

VoIP, USB & Digital Home, Multimedia, KVM switches, Brief overview of Structured Cabling, D-Link Products.

Hands-on practical: VoIP, Video conferencing, Multimedia applications.

Written test and Course feedback.
